Debt Collection Abuse at its worst level - a Wrongful Death Action

CNN reports that a Florida woman is suing Green Tree Servicing Collection Company over her husband’s death.

In 2002, Stanley McLeod could not longer work and went on disability for heart problems and a recent heart attack.   The McLeod’s were struggling and later got behind a few months on their mortgage.   Their mortgage was taken over and Green Tree Servicing debt collectors began to call.  According to Mrs. McLeod, calling sometimes up to 10 times a day.  Receiving 10 debt collection calls a day is harassment and a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, even without knowing the content of the calls!

However, the content of the calls even make things worse…….

“Stanley McLeod, you need to call Green Tree and get your act together and make your payments on your mortgage and quit playing these games”

Here’s a message that was left after the collector found out Mr. McLeod had been life-lighted to a hospital for a second heart attack…..

“Why don’t you have that helicopter pick you up and bring that payment to the office?”  Now if that isn’t abuse at the highest level, I don’t know what is.

For anyone to speak to another human being this way is just apprehensible, to say the least.  However, these mafia-like tactics is the only way debt collectors think they will get paid.

Jeff urges, if you are experiencing any calls or problems with debt collectors, please call so he can help you put bring things to an end!

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> Also, make sure you file a complaint with your local attorney general.   The more complaints that are documented, the more chance we have of making the real criminals pay!
