What's New

Maxed Out shows how the modern financial industry really works, explains the true definition of "preferred customer" and tells us why the poor are getting poorer and the rich getting richer. By turns hilarious and profoundly disturbing, Maxed Out paints a picture of a national nightmare which is all too real for most of us!!

What can I do to stop debt collection calls about OLD DEBT

Are you a Pittsburgh consumer receiving harassing phone calls from debt collectors trying to collect a debt?  Are you wandering what to do with these phone calls?

Well, you no longer have to worry or wonder about these annoying phone calls.  The only thing you need to know is DON"T PAY THE DEBT COLLECTOR before speaking to an attorney.  Here's why:

*  Debt collectors buy very old debt for sometimes less than pennies on the dollar.  Collectors are trying to get paid from your old mistakes.  Most debt collectors don't get paid unless you pay them!

*  In Pennsylvania, there is a statute of limitations for delinquent debt.  In most circumstances such as written contracts, oral contracts and promissory notes it is 4 years.  This means that a debt collector cannot sue you to get the money after the debt has been in default for more than 4 years.

This also means that the debt collector will be in violation of the FDCPA if they threaten to take you to court past the statute of limitations.
However,  the debt collector is permitted to call and ask you for the money to pay off the debt.  Without harassing you of course.

*  Debt collectors cannot harass you at work, cannot call you at odd times or over and over again.
*  Debt collectors cannot berate you and make you feel like you are useless because you owe a debt.

Start fighting back against abusive debt collectors.
