Q: Can a debt collector contact me at my place of business?
A: A debt collector can contact you at your place of employment, IF YOU AUTHORIZE the debt collector to do so. If you are not allowed to receive personal phone calls, and tell the debt collector you are NOT allowed to accept their phone calls, THEY MUST STOP. If they do not stop contacting you at work, this is a violation of the FDCPA.
Basically, this means they are allowed to attempt to contact you at work (however, they are not allowed to speak to anyone at your place of employment about this debt), but can contact you.
If you tell the debt collector that you are not allowed to accept their phone calls, then they MUST STOP!
