Q: What must the debt collector tell me about the debt?
A: Within five days after you are first contacted, the debt collector is required to send you a written 30-Day Validation Notice with all of the information he/she has about your debt. You then have 30 days to verify, dispute and respond to the notice. See Prohibited Practices for more information.
